Momentum? Thy name is Big Brown. The real question here is: how can he not take the Triple Crown?

A victory at the June 7 Belmont Stakes would see Big Brown enter the record books alongside 11 previous Triple Crown winners. It's been 30 years since Affirmed completed the three-race sweep.

Big Brown took the Preakness win yesterday five lengths ahead of Macho Again. “He is a freak of a horse,” Kent Desormeaux said. “It was just the easiest winner ever.”

Desormeaux has had his Triple Crown disappointments in the past. He came so close to completing it ten years ago, when Real Quiet, winner of the first two legs, was beaten a nose by Victory Gallop in the Belmont Stakes.

“The only guarantee I can give is that Big Brown is the fastest and most talented horse I've ridden,” Desormeaux said.

Belmont Stakes:

  • Date: Saturday June 7th, 2008
  • Location: Belmont Park, Elmont, NY
  • Post Time: 6:25 PM (EST)
  • TV Network: ABC 5 PM (EST)
