Del Mar will hold the John C. Mabee Handicap on Sunday, August 3rd and Black Mamba's trainer John Sadler was undecided as whether to enter Black Mamba in the Mabee or ship her to Arlington Park for the $750,000 Beverly D Grade I on August 9th.

Sadler has decided to stay in California and enter Black Mamba in the Mabee, she will be the starting high weight at 119 pounds in the 1 1/8 mile race for female turf runners. Black Mamba's last victory was in the Grade II Beverly Hills Handicap at Hollywood Park on June 29th.

"This race here comes up good for her, without the shipping," Sadler said. "The other is a longer distance, it's also a Group 1, and it's for more money, but this is in our own backyard. With Diamond Diva defecting, we should be a short price."

Four of her last seven starts she's been favored and most likely this will be her fifth favored race. Del Mar was home to her first United States victory after arriving last year from New Zealand.
