Before you know it, the Breeders' Cup will be upon us, which will culminate in the 1 1/4-mile dirt run for a $5 million purse.

Last year's winner, Curlin, will this year face Kentucky Derby winner who suffered a dramatic Triple Crown defeat, Big Brown.

Currently, Curlin is vying for a trip to Paris for the Arc de Triomphe, though it is yet to be seen how he performs on the turf. Big Brown on the other hand, it looking for redemption after losing the Belmont to Da'Tara, which cost him the Triple Crown. Big Brown is scheduled to start next in Gr. 1 Travers or Haskell Invitational.

Other contenders include Go Between, a Bill Mott trained runner-up in the Santa Anita Handicap, Student Council, winner of the Gr. 1 Pimlico Special, and Tiago, winner of the Oaklawn Handicap.
