This year's Breeders' Cup Classic had a crazy twist with the retirement of Big Brown due to a hoof injury and the announcement that Commentator will not race for the remainder of the season but will rest instead for a return next year. Japanese superstar Casino Drive will race in the Classic after an allowance win on Sunday while preparing at Santa Anita.

Still, with all the heavy competition, Bodog's oddsmakers have made Curlin the overwhelming 13/8 favorite to win the $5,000,000 purse, putting Smooth Air as the longshot at 50/1 odds.

Curlin drew the No. 9 post position, wich trainer Steve Asmussen said was a “perfect spot for him.”

Curlin won last year's Classic by 4 1/2 lengths on a sloppy track at New Jersey’s Monmouth Park. Track conditions for Saturday's race are expected to be ideal, with the forecast calling for temperatures in the low 80s. If Curlin pleases the oddsmakers, he'll become the second horse ever to win back-to-back Classics.
