Owners Hal and Patti Earnhart will be watching on Saturday as their filly Indian Blessing will attempt to hold on to her undefeated record in the $200,000 Silverbulletday Stakes (gr. III) at Fair Grounds on Feb. 9.
In a field of seven, the 1 1/6 mile race will feature a rematch between Indian Blessing the Breeder’s Cup Juvenile Fillies (gr. I) winner, and second place finisher in the same Oct. 27 event, Proud Spell.
Proud Spell recorded 3 unbeaten efforts before her second place finish in the Breeder’s Cup which shows she may be tough competition for Indian Blessing. Proud Spell, who has been training at Fair Grounds, recorded her last victory in the September 15 Matron Stakes (gr. II) at Belmont.
Indian Blessing, the homebred daughter of Indian Charlie, earned 2 year old filly honors in 2007 and kicked off her 3 year old season with a victory on the Jan 13, in the Santa Ynez Stakes (gr. II) at Santa Anita. This champion filly, trained under Bob Baffert, is unbeaten in four career starts.
Highest Class and Jolie the Cat who have also recorded graded stakes wins in their careers, pose to be solid competition for the upcoming race.
Rounding out the field is Miss Missile, Absolutely Cindy, and High Surf. The 2008 Kentucky Derby prep races are in full-swing. Get your Derby futures over at the Bodog Racebook today.
