Over the past season, expert horse racing analysts Steve Davidowitz and Dave Tuley have given Bodog Racebook an in-depth look at the Triple Crown, Pacific Classic, and Travers Stakes. With the Breeders' Cup World Championships taking place right now at Santa Anita, you've still got time to check out which of the top contenders Davidowitz and Tuley have picked to win — before you place your Breeders' Cup bets.

Keep in mind that although Friday's Breeders' Cup races, which featured the fillies, are all but over…there is still plenty of Breeders' Cup action on Saturday to cash in on. Among those races scheduled for Nov. 7th is the Breeders' Cup Classic, which sees undefeated mare Zenyatta take on the boys.

Did either Davidowitz or Tuley pick Zenyatta to win the Breeders' Cup Classic?

Their picks to win the Breeders' Cup Classic may surprise more than a few, but it wouldn't hurt to see who they went with and why. Maybe they've got just the insight you've been looking for to make those winning picks!

Betting on the Breeders' Cup? Good for you! As far as horse racing goes, this is it. The Breeders' Cup marks the end of another season in championship thoroughbred horse racing — and a golden opportunity for bettors to cash in on one of the richest races in the horse racing industry. Are you ready to place your winning wagers or could you use a few good Breeders' Cup betting tips?

Breeders' Cup Betting Tip No. 1: Consider the Longshots

The world's best thoroughbreds have already gathered at Santa Anita Park in Southern California, completing their final workouts in preparation for the 2009 Breeders' Cup World Championships scheduled for November 6th and 7th.

On Monday Morning Kentucky Derby winner Mine That Bird worked five-furlongs at a time of 58 1/5-seconds — the fastest of 58 recorded works at that distance — and is set to compete in the $5 million Breeders' Cup Classic, which will be at 1 1/4-miles, the same distance as the Kentucky Derby which Mine That Bird won as a 50-1 longshot.

"The only part of his workout that is really important is the final quarter-mile," said trainer Chip Woolley. "He finished big today and galloped out big past the wire."

Breeders' Cup Betting Tip No. 2: Speed Down the Stretch Wins Races

Look for a horse that has come from just off the pace in their most recent race and then drawn away through the stretch to win by more than four lengths.

Breeders' Cup Betting Tip No. 3: Take Past Performances Into Account

Note each horse's performance in their last race. As well, take note of their trainers and jockeys.

We're just days away! For more Breeders' Cup handicapping tips, go to the Bodog Racebook.
In Saturday's $500,000 Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup Stakes at Keeneland, Hot Cha Cha surprised everyone — except for trainer Phil Sims and jockey James Graham — with her first place, 4 1/2 length finish over second place finisher Shared Account (ridden by Edgar Prado). Shared Account set the pace for most of the race, but then lost her lead when Hot Cha Cha found an inside opening on the home stretch and bolted towards the finish line at a time of 1:53.09. For the win Hot Cha Cha picks up a $300,000 payday, giving her a total of $585,566.

"We've been together a lot of years, and this is the best win we've ever had," Sims said. "She's just getting better and better."

Gozzip Girl, ridden by Hall of Fame jockey Kent Desormeaux, finished third and Miss World finished fourth.

In other Breeders' Cup Challenge horse racing news, Mambo Meister earned an automatic berth in the Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile with his 3 3/4-length victory in the (G3) $100,000 Spend a Buck Handicap.

Saturday's $500,000 Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup (G1) Stakes at Keeneland isn't a 'Win and You're In' Breeders' Cup Challenge race, but it is still one of the most important Breeders' Cup prep races of the season. And considering the amount of rain that came down in Lexington, KY over the past few days the track will probably be pretty soft.

Let's hope those track conditions keep all jockeys and horses safe. No one wants to see another Gozzip Girl-like trip, including jockey Kent Desormeaux. The Hall of Fame jockey was nearly thrown from Gozzip Girl's saddle in the Garden City Stakes (G1) when she was tripped up near the rail and stumbled.

In just his first start in a Grade 1 stakes race, Gitano Hernando rallied from fifth in the final quarter-mile to finish ahead of favorite Colonel John to win the $305,000 Goodwood Stakes at Santa Anita on Saturday. Richard's Kid rallied late to finish third.

For Gitano, the victory is his biggest to date. The English-bred horse has won 4 of 7 starts and his career earnings were a mere $54,669. Now with Saturday's big take his career earnings total a whopping $219,669.

PLUS, because the Goodwood Stakes is part of the Breeders' Cup "Win and You're In" Challenge series Gitano is now headed to race in the Breeders' Cup Classic.

"Our goal is the Classic," said Aron Wellman, racing manager for co-owner Team Valor International.

Mine That Bird finished a disappointing sixth in the Goodwood Stakes, but is still expected to race in the Breeders' Cup Classic. Trainer Chip Woolley believes the shorter distance worked against Mine That Bird and that an extra eighth of a mile would have changed the outcome of the race. Considering the BC Classic is run over 1 1/4 miles, Mine That Bird will still have another opportunity to prove that theory's correct. In the meantime, the Kentucky Derby winner and his jockey, Calvin Borel, will get three more works on Santa Anita's Pro-Ride synthetic track.

"He had a perfect trip, but he got to struggling a bit," Borel said. "I do know one thing: He's a lot better horse on the dirt. When you ask him here, he goes to struggling instead of just running. I don't know. We'll have to work on that a little bit and see what happens. But I think he'll be all right."

Nonetheless, on this day at Santa Anita it was all about the British horse that upset the American favorite. Gitano Hernando's win has no doubt made quite a few horse racing fans and bettors happy.

Extending her unbeaten streak to 13 with a huge win in Saturday's $299,000 Lady's Secret Stakes (and improving her Breeders' Cup odds), Zenyatta is now tied with Personal Ensign. The victory also gives her an automatic entry to the Breeder's Cup. The decision as to which race — either the Breeders' Cup Classic or the Breeders' Cup Laides' Classic — is still with owner Jerry Moss.

On Saturday, Oct. 3 at Belmont Park, all eyes were on Summer Bird and jockey Kent Desormeaux as they made their way to the gates for a shot at yet another huge victory — the Grade I $750,000 Jockey Club Gold Cup.

The 3-year-old son of Birdstone bided his time before unleashing the perfect stretch drive. Rival Quality Road made things interesting, but there was no stopping Summer Bird as he went on to win the 1 1/4 miles Jockey Club Gold Cup in 2:02.51 and returned $4.50 as the favorite.

"At the quarter pole he spit past Quality Road, and he was idling," Desormeaux said. "He's trying to be the best I've ever ridden."

Summer Bird's owners are getting the thoroughbred ready to to be shipped to Santa Anita where they'll have 10 days to prep the horse for the 2009 Breeders' Cup Classic.

"It's been 20 years since a 3-year-old won the Belmont, Travers and the Gold Cup," trainer Tim Ice said. "I think it does put him in an elite group and he should be named 3-year-old champion colt."

The 2009 Breeders' Cup has released their schedule for the upcoming races. Bloodhorse is reporting that the Friday, November 6 program will consist of six Breeders’ Cup races, beginning with the $500,000 Breeders’ Cup Marathon, and will be followed by five consecutive Breeders’ Cup races for females.

The Saturday card will feature eight Breeders’ Cup races – which will all lead up to the $5 million Breeders’ Cup Classic (gr. I). Saturday’s card will also include the grade II Oak Tree Derby and the Damascus Stakes.

Kenneth Kirchner, president of FalKirk International and wagering consultant to the Breeders’ Cup, told the press: "We believe that the schedule of six championships races on Friday and eight on Saturday will provide better balance to the program and greater betting opportunities for the fans. Fans should find the Pick 6 sequence on Friday and Saturday to be great bets and based on last year's $1 million Friday Pick 6 handle, we could enjoy a substantial carryover into Saturday."
