Georgie Boy kept his three-race streak alive this Saturday at the $200,000 San Felipe at Santa Anita with an exciting win against Gayego and Bob Black Jack. The three favorites had never run a route event before but watching those three finish with an outstanding push from Georgie Boy you wouldn’t know it.

After a recent injury to his San Vincente-winning jockey Rafael Bejarno, Georgie Boy was ridden by Michael Baze in a time of 1:42:35.

"They're both great, fine riders,” said Kathy Walsh, Georgie Boy’s veteran trainer. “We just went with the fact that Michael had been on the horse [for workouts] quite a bit last spring but only got to ride him in a race once. That, and I knew Michael had all the faith in the world in him."

"Around the far turn I just had to wait, wait, wait and at the top of the lane, I was able to swing out and say ‘Goodbye', He really impressed me more after we hit the wire,” said Baze. “I had a harder time pulling him up than I did during the race. I didn’t get him pulled up until the five-eighths pole.”

Georgie Boy will next appear in either the April 5 Santa Anita Derby or the Arkansas Derby a week later.
