The 72nd running of the Santa Anita Handicap is set to be run this Saturday, and Colonel John will be the morning line favorite at 9-2. The field of 14 will have six grade 1 or group 1 winners, which include Colonel John, Zambezi Sun, Monba, Einstein, Court Vision’ and Champs Elysees.

In addition it will include Santa Anita grade II winners Cowboy Cal and Magnum.

Under John Velazquez, Cowboy Cal drew a 120-pound weight assignment and will have morning line odds of 5-1. The competitive field will also see four others listed no higher than 6-1.
