Spring House rallied from sixth in the final half-mile to win his first start of 2008, taking the $150,000 San Luis Obispo Handicap at Santa Anita on Saturday.

Garrett Gomez rode Spring House well off the pace for the first mile, tracking the mare Sohgol, who led through a slow pace of 47.33 and 1:12.59. Eventually he moved closer to the front on the inside at the end of the backstretch. In the final furlong he moved to take the lead to win by 2.25 lengths.

Spring House is owned by R.D. Hubbard and trained by Julio Canani, and has earned $90,000. A gelding by Chester House, Spring House has won six of 30 starts and $544,284.
