The 1 1/4-mile race was the longest in Hystericalady's career, but that didn't stop the mare from edging out the competition to win the the Grade 2, $1-million Delaware Handicap by 4 lengths on Sunday.

"I think she surely is one of the best horses I ever had," co-owner and trainer Jerry Hollendorfer told SF Gate. "I wouldn't have brought her out here if I didn't think she had a chance. It looked like she was running very easily the whole race."

Long shot Lemon Drop Mom placed and 2-to-1 favorite and last year's winner, Unbridled Belle, showed. Spring Waltz was 4th followed by Buy the Barrel, All Smiles, Santa Teresita and Kathleens Reel.

“Everything worked out perfect for the trip I was hoping to get,” said jockey Garrett Gomez. “This is a classy mare. She will do whatever you want her to do and it is a pleasure to be on her. She always travels well for me. My main concern was she kicked when I wanted her to kick because the mile and a quarter was a question in some people minds.”

Hystericalady is among the 2008 Breeders' Cup Ladies' Classic entries. She placed second in last year's Breeders' Cup Distaff. Want your prop bets on the Breeders' Cup? Get all your Breeders' Cup betting in the Bodog Racebook today.
