The first day of 2008 will show great competition at Santa Anita in the (Gr. 3)  $100,000 El Conejo Handicap, when the runner up to Breeders Cup Sprint (Gr. 1), Idiot Proof, faces fellow Grade 1 winner In Summation.

Idiot Proof, also turning 4 on New Years Day, may not face Bushwacker, winner of the Grade 3 Vernon Underwood Stakes at Hollywood Park on Dec. 2.

"I'm not sure I'm going to go in the race," Currin said. "I entered to see who was going in. I'm apt to do an audible at the last minute, but I don't think I will run."

Although In Summation will be a great opponent, Idiot Proof will still be favored. The thoroughbred placed second in the sloppy BC Sprint behind Midnight Lute before taking the win at Oak Tree's Ancient Title Breeders' Cup (gr. I), on Santa Anita's all-weather surface in October.

Idiot Proof who is owned by Pam and Martin Wygod and trained by Clifford Sise has gathered a record of 5-2-1 earning a total of $830,136.

Jockey David Flores who is on fire at the winter/spring meet will ride Idiot Proof. Flores, who took three stakes events on Dec.26, opening day at Santa Anita, has been aboard Idiot Proof in six of his nine starts.

Opponent In Summation, trained by Christophe Clement has complied a record of 8-5-0 with total earnings of $749,826.

Also running in the 6 horse field are Barber, Council Member and Barbeque Eddie who is looking for his first stakes win.
