After taking the win at the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp Racecourse in Paris, France and a fifth place finish at the 2007 Breeders Cup Classic, Dylan Thomas has had a roller coaster ride of a month.
November may start looking up for Dylan Thomas after receiving an invitation to race in the Japan Cup this Nov 25. With a chance to collect another win as he has been confirmed as a starter in the $4.8 million, 1 1/2-mile turf race taking place at Tokyo Racecourse on Nov 25.
Should the Ireland trained thoroughbred win this invitational event, he will stand to collect a $1.083-million bonus.
Grand Couturier (GB) and Clement L. Hirsch Memorial Turf Championship Stakes winner Artiste Royal (IRE) are possible entries for this two day event.
Student Council will be the only North American entry for the $2.32 million Japan Cup Dirt (2,100 meters- about 10.5 furlongs) which will take place a day before on November 24 at Tokyo.
Although it has a short history within the industry, the Japan Cup has established itself as an international event with winners from Japan, North America, Britain, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, France, Germany and Italy. This race was established to allow local racehorses to compete against other horses of an international quality and to promote goodwill within the racing community worldwide.
