With Run for the Roses just a day away, trainers and horses are gearing up for the big event. If all 20 entrants start, this will be the fifth year in a row that the maximum number has run in the Kentucky Derby. Favorite to win, I Want Revenge, who has been unbeaten since switching from a synthetic to a dirt track, will start from post 13 with 3-1 odds on Saturday's running of the $2 million Kentucky Derby.
The post positions were drawn Wednesday and with no monster standouts like Big Brown hoarding the betting action, choosing among the list of 2009 Kentucky Derby contenders can be tricky.
Other Win/Place/Show favorites include Dunkirk, who starts from post 15, and Pioneerof the Nile, who will run from post 16. The fourth wagering choice on the morning line, Friesan Fire, who will start from post 6.
If you're feeling frisky, longshots like Mine That Bird (100/1), Mr. Hot Stuff (45/1) and Advice (30/1), who haven't won a race all year, will payout huge. Don't count any of them out because it's the Kentucky Derby, baby – anything could happen!
