Australia's richest horse race, the $5.5 million Melbourne Cup, goes down tomorrow and as usual with big races like this, the last-minute drama is unfolding rapidly.

Zarita has been scratched due to a virus, while English horse Yellowstone scratched because of a hip injury. The field has now been reduced to 22.

Yellowstone's jockey John Egan was fined $8,000 for the comments he made during a television interview in which he called racing vets a "couple of tinpot Hitlers."

English horse Mad Rush is the favorite ahead of Irish stayer Septimus who will run under concerns that the Flemington track is too firm, although Septimus' team is happy with the latest track inspection. Get your Melbourne Cup odds in the Bodog Racebook today.
