The Horse of the Year, Curlin, did not win his turf test at the Man o' War Stakes. Curlin, the best dirt horse was defeated by Red Rocks at Saturday's $500,000 Man o' War Stakes (G1) at Belmont Park.
Curlin's people are eying his spot in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe (Fr-G1) at Longchamp in October, and with the Man o' War being Curin's first start on the grass, this was a test to see whether he could keep up with the turf runners.
"We just didn't see that late kick from him today," said majority owner Jess Jackson. "I don't know if that was because he is still getting used to the turf, or what. My feeling right now is that he needs another turf test. We know what he can do on dirt, and that is always an option."
However, Jackson has big plans for Curlin. The Tattersalls Millions Irish Champion Stakes (Ire-G1), a 1/14-mile turf race on September 6th, is among the possibilities.

My thoughts are that if Curlin diden't hit the starting gate at the break he would of won.
Just a part of racing. He is still the champ
