Santa Anita Facing Heavy Weather Issues

As a result of a drainage problem and not to mention the wet winter weather conditions, the new synthetic track has too much standing wager and soft spots. Usually rainouts in horse racing are rare, but it's becoming a reoccurring issue with Santa Anita.

"What else can go wrong?" Santa Anita President Ron Charles said yesterday morning. "We're waiting for the rain to stop to see when we can begin some work."

Nothing has been confirmed yet, but a project to fix the drainage issue may have been scheduled.
