This Sunday at Delaware Park, Unbridled Belle is looking to experience Déjà vu with a back to back win in the Delaware Handicap. Last year she won the 1 1/4 mile race by 7 3/4 lengths, the largest winning margin since the race was extended in 1951. Should she win the race from the 9 post this weekend she will be the fifth repeat winner and sixth two-time winner of the Delaware Handicap.
Just like last year, Ramon Dominguez, the leading rider at Delaware will be her jockey. In her only start this year, Unbridled Belle won the local prep for the Delaware Handicap, the $150,000 Obeah Stakes on June 14.
Nastique was the last horse to win back-to-back runnings at the Delaware Handicap in 1988 and 1989. The other two-time winners are Endine (1958-59), Obeah (1969-70), Blessing Angelica (1971-72), and Susan's Girl, the winner in 1973 and 1975.
Make sure to keep an eye out for race 11 at Delaware Park and see if Unbridled Belle can do what few have done before her.
