The playing space in the Amazon Room here at the 2008 WSOP Main Event has shrunk dramatically over the last few days. We went from being spread all over God's green earth to a small area adjacent to the Milwaukee's Best No Limit Lounge with just 79 players remaining on eight tables. Most of the media has gone, leaving just the die hard and foolish (haven't decided which we are yet) to relay information to the wide world. The decorations and melange or promotional displays are being packed up and things have definitely quieted down. The end is nigh. Repent now.
The sreams of the spectators are getting more impassioned as every hit two-outer and race won means the chance for a bigger payday as the payouts increase more frequently. As of right now every player left is guaranteed at least $77,200 with six figure payouts just 16 spots away.
At the top of the leader board at this precise moment is Mark Ketteringham, followed closeley by David "Chino" Rheem. Our raison d'etre, or at least our reason for caring right now, Tiffany Michelle, is sixth overall in chips with other notable poker players David "Raptor" Benefield, Brandon Cantu, Garrett "GBecks" Beckman, Mike Matusow, Adam "Roothlus" Levy, Phil Hellmuth and Alex Outhred spread among the rest of the field.
The plan once again is to play five levels and then call it a day before the race to final table begins tomorrow. We'll keep you updated on all the action so keep coming back here for your WSOP live updates.
