As the end of the second level of Day 1D of the 2008 WSOP Main Event wraps up and the registration starts to close, we are closer and closer to an officially official entrant number for this year's Main Event. As you can see on the picture above, with about 35 minutes to go there are 6,843 entrants in this year's event, just a shade under 500 more than the 2007 WSOP Main Event.

What this means for everyone is that this has officially become the second-largest Main Event field in WSOP history and that the prizepool will be a little larger than it was last year. 2007 WSOP Main Event champ Jerry Yang took home $8.25 million for his win and with an extra almost $5 million in the prizepool, that number will inch closer to $9 million for this year's victor.

Stay tuned to the Bodog Beat for more WSOP news and the official prizepool amounts once they are released.
