WSOP Media Guru and all-around badass Nolan Dalla just got on the loudspeaker here in the Amazon Room (and woke us from a much-needed nap after last night) to announce that poker pro Jeff Lisandro has officially won the 2009 WSOP Player of the Year award.
Lisandro receives the honor for accumulating the most points on the race to be Player of the Year courtesy of winning three WSOP bracelets. Each was one in a stud event – Stud, Stud Hi/Lo, and Razz – to give him the Stud Triple Crown. A previously unknown and recently made up accomplishment. Mainly because no one ever thought it could be done.
The Australian-born resident of Salerno, Italy, is also still alive in the 2009 WSOP Main Event and would love to cap off an amazing summer by adding a fifth WSOP bracelet to his resume in this tournament.
The prize for winning will be announced later as it is usually customized for the winner. Last year's Player of the Year – Erick Lindgren – received a motorcycle as he is a fan of them.
