WSOP Tournament Director Jack Effel just did the daily "Shuffle Up and Deal" honors for Day 5 of the 2009 WSOP Main Event, so we are officially underway here in the Amazon Room.
Today we will either play down to 175 remaining players or five levels, whichever comes first. Right now, there are 407 players remaining and among them is Team Bodog member Alper "thunderfx" Sar. He starts the day with 372,000 in chips, which is just slightly below average, and is at a table with JC Tran and Jordan "Octavian_C" Rich.
The chip leader going into the day is Matt Affleck with 1,819,000 in chips, followed by Ludovic Lacay with 1,608,000. Yesterday's chip leader – Bertrand "elKy" Grospellier – has dropped down to 1.25 million while poker pros Blair Hinkle, Phil Ivey and Jordan Morgan have moved up into the top 15.
While we've been typing this up, the dealers' cries of "all in and a call" have been echoing much more frequently than expected at this stage in the tournament. So, today could end up being a short day. To the pool!
