The WPT Foxwoods Poker Classic has crowned a new champion and it was not Amnon Filippi. (Bodog Beat Image)

The headline pretty much says it all. The biggest name at the final table of the WPT Foxwoods Poker ClassicAmnon Filippi – ended up finishing second to Vadim Trincher after 42 hands of heads-up play.

Filippi entered the heads-up duel with the lead, but lost a huge 2.8 million chip pot about halfway through and never really recovered. The end came when Trincher called Filippi's all-in move with a spade draw and hit it on the turn and, just do add insult to injury, on the river as well.

Trincher wins $731,079 for the victory as well as entry into the WPT World Championship at the Bellagio in a couple of weeks. Filiipi receives $409,405

Here are the full final table placings and payouts:

1. Vadim Trincher  -  $731,079
2. Amnon Filippi  -  $409,405
3. Lenny Cortellino  -  $214,449
4. Matt Casterella  -  $138,905
5. Alex Perelberg  -  $106,007

Like we said, the $25,000 WPT World Championship gets underway in a couple of weeks, which means that not only is a new season of the WPT just around the corner, but the summer of the WSOP is upon us.
