The Venetian poker room has been laughing at the tough economic times with the massive success of its Deep Stack Extravaganza tournament series. Despite the Las Vegas Strip being pummeled by the current recession, the Venetian poker room is boasting more than a 100% increase in revenue over this time last year.

Among the hundreds of player who have been enjoying the Deep Stack Extravaganza is Bodog regular Alan Engel (Ari).

Engel, a master of online poker tournaments, has been finding his live poker tournament stride at the Venetian with three recent deep runs including: 11th in the NL Holdem Event No. 3 for $1,188, 7th on the NL Holdem Event No. 13 for $4,701, and 2nd in the NL Holdem Event No. 14 for $14,965.
