One-hundred-and-nineteen online poker players won Bad Beat and Royal Flush bonuses through October in the Bodog poker room. These players celebrated victories and defeats with bonuses ranging from $5 to $1,000 for holding Royal Flushes and getting beat… bad.
One of the biggest winners of the month was ndrudy46 who was playing $5/$10 NL on November 28th. ndrudy46 woke up to Ah-Ad and flopped a set of Aces on the board of 3c-Ac-Jc. His opponent, StonecoldMS, was holding Qc-Kc and turned the Royal Flush when the 10c hit. No betting on the turn lead to the 4th Ace appearing on the river – where all the money went in. The pot was $2,127.00 with $1,045 of it belonging to ndrudy46 before the hand started. A $1,000 bonus was issued to ndrudy46’s account one the details of the submitted hand were verified, bring his net loss to just $45 for the hand.
One of the luckiest players of the month was HoldTheNutz – the one player to win both a Royal Flush and a Bad Beat bonus during October. The Royal occurred on October 7th while the Bad Beat occurred on October 24th. As can often happen with a big hand, HoldTheNutz was not able to get much action on the Royal Flush. At a $1/$2 Fixed Limit table, the pot pulled in was just $9.50 – though once the $50 bonus was added, it’s almost certain the smile on HoldTheNutz face was a bit bigger. His Bad Beat hit two weeks later, on a $0.50/$1 Fixed Limit table, when he had his pocket Kh-Ks improve to a Full house, Aces over Kings, only to be beat by 4 of a kind Aces.
