| Bodog poker pro Jean Robert Bellande is out in the field for the $10,000 Pot Limit Holdem World Championship |
The first event of the 2008 World Series of Poker is underway and already Team Bodog is making its presence felt out in the Amazon Room. Bodog poker pros David Williams, Jean-Robert Bellande and Justin Bonomo have all been spotted out in the field and are sitting comfortable going into the first break.
This $10,000 buy-in Pot Limit Holdem World Championship event has brought out some of the biggest names in poker early in the WSOP schedule, exactly what we're sure they planned on when they put this event up front. Allen Cunningham, Phil Ivey, Patrik Antonius, David "The Dragon" Pham, JC Tran, Greg Raymer and so many more that we're too lazy to list out are all out in the 351-player field. Early leader is Eli Elezra, followed by Jennifer Harman and Dario Minieri. Already headed out the door, hopes aflame, were Shannon Elizabeth, Hevad "Rain" Khan and Jenn Tilly (maybe she had a little toooo much fun at the Bluff party last night).
As a three-day event, they'll just play through five levels today, then come back tomorrow to play down to the final table. Unfortunately for the players, they will have to share the tournament room with what will most likely be over 3,000 players for the first of several $1,500 No Limit Holdem events on the WSOP schedule, but they'll be battling for the first bracelet of the 2008 WSOP, so we're sure they'll maintain focus.
Stay tuned for more live updates from the 2008 WSOP.
