To say that Team Bodog has already left an impression on the 2008 World Series of Poker with only four events in the books would be an understatement. Over the last 24 hours, there have been three Team Bodog poker players at WSOP final tables, and two of them shared the spotlight at the final table of Event No. 4 - $5,000 Mixed Holdem. Bodog poker pros David Williams and Justin Bonomo notched seventh and second place finishes, respectively.
Three days ago an extremely tough field filled with some of the biggest names in poker came out to try their hand at this event, and that field eventually distilled down into one of the most stacked WSOP final tables in recent memory. The two Team Bodog players found themselves next to each other at the table and in chips. Williams held a slight edge over Bonomo, entering second in chips with Bonomo sitting third in chips.
Through the course of the final table, both young guns would see their chip stacks fluctuate. Unfortunately, Williams was unable to recover from a particularly brutal downswing and exited in seventh place, taking home $58,515. Bonomo survived the eliminations of Howard Lederer, Roland de Wolfe and Andrew Robl to go up against the "Best Poker Player to have Never Won a WSOP Bracelet," Erick LIndgren.
In his second WSOP final table, Bonomo was unable to overcome that which fate seemed to have deigned, a long-awaited WSOP victory for Lindgren. The newest Team Bodog member walked with $230,159 for his second-place finish and the knowledge that he faced a worthy opponent, who praised Bonomo's efforts profusely in the post-event interviews. Class act.
We expect to see much more of Team Bodog in the days and weeks to come. So, make sure to stay tuned to the Beat for live updates from the 2008 WSOP and don't forget to qualify online for the 2008 WSOP and join Team Bodog out in Vegas for the WSOP Main Event
