We should probably apologize for getting yo this update so late in the day, we're almost five hours into today's play, but we're not going to do that because we're still recovering from a pretty sick 24 hour period in which we partied at the Palms Hardwood Fantasy suite with Charles Barkley and then went out to Spring Mountain to race Corvettes and tricked-out go-karts and don't feel bad about it at all. More about that later.
For now, the play is well, well underway here in the Amazon Room for Day 1B of the 2008 WSOP Main Event and our current chip leader is poker pro Patrik Antonius. Other notables near the top of the leaderboard include Erick Lindgren, Kristy Gazes, Vanessa Rousso, Robert Mizrachi, Alex Kravchenko and then about 1,300 other people. Those we've already said goodbye to include poker pros Greg Raymer, Andy Black, Ted Forrest and Daniel Negreanu.
The official number for Day 1A was 1,297 and was announced with a note pointing out that this number does not reflect what the four-day total will be. This is good because if all four days only pulled about 1,300 players each, there would be a lot of disappointed Harrah's executives who would find themselves quickly in the hot seat. It looks like the unoffical word on entrants so far for today, according to the screen, is 1,044, which seems really, really low, so we'll just say for now that this remains "unofficial."
We'll keep you posted on all of the pros progress during the day as well as Team Bodog players, so stay tuned for more live updates from the 2008 WSOP.
