The end of the 2008 WSOP Main Event is so, so close we can almost taste it, and it tastes like chicken, oddly. Anyway, Day 7 play gets underway in about an hour in the very small corner of the Amazon Room that the biggest poker tournament in the world now occupies with 27 players remaining on three tables.
The top three chip counts as play gets underway belong to Dennis Phillips (11,910,000), Craig Marquis (11,460,000) and Tiffany Michelle (9,755,000), and the only one who has remained near the top during all of play yesterday was Tiffany. Sick, just so sick. Yes, we're biased, she's one of us. As well as being, obviously, a good poker player, Tiffany is a hard-working member of the media who appears on-camera for PokerNews.com. But enough, we don't want to jinx anything.
Other notables remaining include, well, mainly just Brandon Cantu and David "Chino" Rheem. Someone's gonna have to spend the next four months promoting the hell out of at least five or six players that no one has ever heard of before. Oh wait, that would be our, the media's, job. Fun.
So, while we prepare to stockpile photos of the so-called November Nine today, stay tuned and we'll keep you updated on all of the action at the WSOP and hopefully start to get you acquainted with the players who will become part of the collective poker consciousness over the next few months.
