You may remember our super-popular "Eating out in" series from our coverage of the WSOP Europe, and since everybody got a kick out of those posts we thought we'd give it a whirl here in Vegas for the 2008 WSOP. That, and the fact that it gives us an excuse to get out of the Rio and eat some good food.
Obviously, Vegas is home to restaurants from some of the best chefs in the world and we are spoiled for choice in every category of cuisine. However, last night felt like a sushi night, so we headed out to arguably the best sushi place in Vegas, Social House at TI. Started by the chef from Nobu, the restaurant is one of the Vegas spots where the beautiful people are spotted and for good reason.
We started with the yellowfin tuna sashimi, which comes adorned with tempura jalapeƱo chips and is probably the best thing on the menu. To go along with that we had some black cod miso, kobe beef skewers and a little kelp salad. Then, since none of us could agree on a selection of things to share from the menu, the whole thing devolved into a selfish, hungry ordering of deliciousness. The piece d'resistance, however, was the curried lobster roll with cucumber and avocado, followed closely by the Kobe beef sliders. Wash it all down with some cold, unfiltered sake and you've got yourself an incredible culinary experience.
We'll try to venture out from the Rio a few more times over the next several weeks to give you guys some tips on where to grab some incredible grub in this city of sin. So, stay tuned for that and your regular live updates from the 2008 WSOP.
