One of the most popular stops on the European Poker Tour, and all poker tours, gets underway tomorrow at the Casino Barcelona in Barcelona, Spain. The EPT Barcelona kicks off another year of the European Poker Tour, which looks to be its biggest and best year to date.
Last year's EPT Barcelona event drew 543 players, including some of the biggest names in the poker world. The $11,000 buy-in from each of them meant that the prize pool reached an astounding $5.75 million and a first-place prize of $1,557,031, which was taken down by Danish poker player Sander Lyloff. EPT London champ Mark Teltscher finished in second for $895,090.
Cashing in the event were Mark Vos, Katja Thater and Dag Martin Mikkelsen. Appearing but not making deep runs were poker pros Isabelle Mercier, Noah Boeken, William Thorson, Vicky Coren, Dario Minieri, Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier, Luca Pagano, Greg Raymer, Daniel Negreanu and Johnny Chan.
This year should prove to be no different as the poker world seems to be descending on European poker tournaments in record numbers. In fact, we know for a fact that Team Bodog poker pros Jean-Robert Bellande and David Williams will be out in the field when Day 1 kicks off tomorrow.
Stay tuned for updates from the Bodog Beat and if you want to play in an EPT event this season then don't forget that there are still daily qualifiers available for as little as $1 for a chance to win a $12,000 Player's Choice package. So, head over to the Bodog Poker room and check out how to qualify online for the WPT, EPT, APPT and other major poker tournaments.
