ESPN to Upgrade World Series of Poker Programming to HD
In an amazing confluence of popular acronyms, ESPN has announced that the WSOP will be filmed and broadcast in HD for the first time ever. (Courtesy LarryKang@flickr.com)
The 32 hours of coverage at the Rio Hotel & Suites in Las Vegas this summer will feature the $10,000 Buy-In M.E. with some preliminary events, including the pro-favorite $50,000 H.O.R.S.E event, rounding out the programming.
ESPN has more HD production equipment and facilities than any other network and is taking advantage of such to beat NBC, GSN and the Travel Channel (they need an acronym) to the punch and make the WSOP the first ever regular poker series broadcast in HD.
Want to see yourself playing for the biggest prize in poker on ESPN in HD this summer? Bodog.com and UK PokerPlayer magazine have teamed up to make that happen for free for one lucky amateur online poker player. British WSOP hopefuls can take a shot at winning their $10,000 tournament buy-in fee paid for, along with $2,000 for travel and accommodation expenses by winning an online freeroll tournament, which is taking place Monday, May 7, 2007 at 8:05pm GMT.
With a special password provided to readers of the UK magazine, PokerPlayer, players can gain entry into the tournament simply by signing up for an account at Bodog.com with no deposit required at Bodog Poker. Players who rank high enough also stand to win from the additional prize pool, which includes 500 tournament credits for 2nd place and 110 tournament credits for 3rd – 20th place – all enough to buy into Bodog.com's weekly Sunday night $100K guaranteed tournament.
