| Poker pro Chris 'Jesus' Ferguson is one of the players at the final table of the WPT LA Poker Classic |
After starting Day 4 – aka yesterday – with the chip lead, poker pro Chris 'Jesus' Ferguson barely squeezed himself into the final table of the WPT LA Poker Classic, but made it he did either way, even if he is the short stack. However, the blast from the past at this final table is the person whom they're all chasing, poker pro Chris Karagulleyan.
You might be forgiven for not knowing Chris Karagulleyan's name, or to have it be one of those names that sounds really familiar but you're not sure why. If you do know his name, then you were probably one of those people that watched televised poker right as the poker boom was, well, booming. Karagulleyan won the second-ever World Poker tour event – the WPT Legends of Poker event at the Bicycle Casino way back in 2002. It has taken him seven years to get back to a WPT final table, but he's now here and he has a monster chip stack.
Going into final table play, Karagulleyan has more than a third of all of the chips in play and almost double what online poker player Mike "SowersUNCC" Sowers has in second place. Here are the full final table chip counts:
1. Chris Karagulleyan - 4,080,000
2. Mike "SowersUNCC" Sowers - 2,405,000
3. Pat Walsh - 2,200,000
4. Binh Nguyen - 1,895,000
5. Cornel Andrew Cimpan - 1,740,000
6. Chris "Jesus" Ferguson - 1,565,000
Even though, Karagulleyan has a ridiculous lead, both Sowers and Ferguson are well-know to be killer No Limit Holdem tournament players in their respective worlds, online and live, respectively. So, anything can happen and usually does in poker. Stay tuned for the final results and check out the WPT live updates for ongoing and, well, live updates.
