The last chance to make some money before the 2009 WSOP Main Event hits – $5,000 Six-Handed No Limit Holdem – wraps up today, but Bodog Poker pro Justin Bonomo took advantage of this opportunity to take home some cash while getting some much-needed rest before the Main Event starts.
There were 928 entrants and Bonomo managed to get deep into the day before succumbing to the whims of the poker cards and ducking out in 63rd place, taking home $11,297 for his efforts. That brings Bonomo's total earnings this WSOP to $434,913. Not bad for a few weeks work.
In other news, while there are still 16 players left in the aforementioned event, pretty much all eyes have turned toward the Main Event. The Gaming Life Expo (aka PokerPalooza) is running for the next couple of days and today also features the celebrity poker tournament Ante Up For Africa, which we'll be covering and bringing you updates for.
Stay tuned for 2009 WSOP Main Event live updates and don't forget that while the Main Event kicks off tomorrow in Vegas, you don't have to be in Vegas to get in on some poker tournament action. The Bodog Mini Poker Series runs during the Main Event and offers players one of the first chances to win a seat to the 2010 WSOP Main Event, meaning they won't have to miss out next summer.
