The latest attempt at translating the success of the poker boom onto the silver screen begins tonight when "Deal" opens in theaters. The movie seems to be some sort of adaptation of Pretty Woman. We base that solely on the fact that one of the stars, Shannon Elizabeth, plays a hooker. Then there's a redemptive story line involving the other star, Burt Reynolds, and then some other stuff happens….and, well, the reviews are really bad, so we're not gonna get into it.
Anyway, the official premiere of the new poker movie was held last night at the Brenden Theatres in the Palms Casino Resort in Vegas. The red carpet for the event featured the movie's director Gil Cates Jr, producers Mark Weinstock and Michael Amato, as well as Elizabeth. Also coming out for the show were poker-playing couple Jennifer Tilly and Phil Laak.
We also get to see a surprise announcement from Elizabeth's Dancing with the Stars partner Derek Hough that they are getting married.
