Day 1 of the WSOP $5,000 NL Holdem Six-Handed event saw Bodog poker pro David Williams come out swinging. Since busting out in Day 1 of the HORSE Championship Williams has had his sights set on the high-action six-handed event. Since it began earlier this afternoon he’s built his stack to 17,000 chips.

The official number of entrants hasn’t been announced yet but the field is around 500.

Among the other early tournament leaders are English poker pro Roland de Wolfe with 35,000. Blair Hinkle is gunning for his second bracelet of the year and third for his family with 32,000. Gavin Griffin is also looking strong with 29,000. Dan Harrington has around 24,000. Vanessa Rousso has 19,000, Phil Laak has 12,000 while his girlfriend Jennifer Tilly has made a taken down a couple big pots in a row putting her up to 23,000.

Team Bodog’s Mario Ho is also out there with slightly less than 8,000 in chips. Maria holds the distinction of being the last woman standing at last year’s WSOP Main Event when she finished in 38th place cashing for $237,865.

There are still two more chances to get your WSOP seat through one of Bodog’s WSOP online satellites. There is one running tonight at 9:15 p.m. ET and then the last chance for a WSOP seat on this Saturday at 3:15 p.m. ET.
