Across the board, there are several names that are making repeat appearances at the top of the preliminary events at the Bellagio's Five Diamond World Poker Classic, including Tom "DonkeyBomber" Schneider, Shannon Shorr and Toto Leonidas.
Another one of those names is Dutch Boyd, who not only has cashed in Event No. 1, but also took down Event No. 3. The $2,500 buy-in tournament attracted 247 players, creating a $598,975 prize pool. The final table featured Schneider and Leonidas, but it was Boyd who bested Jack Duncan heads-up to take down the $237,685 first-place prize.
Events 4 and 5 have also wrapped up at the Bellagio with some notable players final tabling. In the $3,000 buy-in Event No. 4, poker pro Amnon Filippi finished in fifth place for $29,100, followed by WSOP bracelet winner Francois Safieddine in sixth for $22,635. The very next event, $5,000 buy-in no limit hold'em, saw Shorr reach yet another final table where he finished in third place for $102,295.
Shorr recently wrote a much-dicussed post on his blog in which he talked about quitting poker because of the toll it was taking on him mentally to go on huge downswings. We'd like to bet money that he's glad he didn't quit now. Stay tuned for here more updates from the poker tournament circuit.
