The carnage began quickly and continued unabated during the seven levels of play of Day 2 at the 2008 Aussie Millions.
By the time the smoke cleared, the starting field of 337 had been narrowed down to a mere 98, meaning more than a third of the players were gone. The poker gods were unkind to both the famous and unknown as many poker pros and hopeful amateurs found themselves with a little more time on their hands than they would have liked.
Among the big names that busted out were Phil Ivey, John Juanda, Allen Cunningham, Johnathan "FieryJustice" Little, Jon "PearlJammer" Turner, Greg "FBT" Mueller, John Tabatabai, Amnon Filippi and Tony G, who is now back on the streets.
Those who did make it through are now only 18 eliminations away from the money bubble, which bursts with 80 players remaining. Those in the hunt for a payday include online poker pros Tom "durrrr" Dwan and Kevin "BeL0WaB0Ve" Saul, Erik Seidel, Andy Black, Erick Lindgren, Kenna James and Jeff Lisandro.
The current leader is Matthew Lagarde, who will need to guard his stack carefully with so many chip-hungry players lurking behind him. Day 3 commences at 12.30 p.m. local time, so keep coming back here for more updates on the 2008 Aussie Millions.
