Harrah's and the WSOP have announced that pre-registration is now available for the 2008 WSOP and the requisite forms and accoutrement are available online for download at WorldSeriesofPoker.com or in person at the Rio cage.
The biggest news from the announcement is that the WSOP will not be seating any alternates this year, so sign-ups will have to be done early to avoid missing the cut-off when entries hit their cap. Players have until two weeks prior to the event to register and must make a deposit for the full amount of the buy-in when they do.
"Because no alternates will be seated at the 2008 WSOP," said WSOP Tournament Director Jack Effel. "We encourage players to pre-register early to guarantee their seats. Once again, acceptable forms of payment will include cash, cashier's checks, wire transfers and Rio casino chips."
The 2008 WSOP begins May 30 and runs through July 16 with 55 bracelet events this year. Buy-ins for events range from $1,000 to $50,000, with the Main Event costing $10,000.
If you want to be part of Team Bodog and get a chance to live the infamous Bodog lifestyle in Vegas this summer at the 2008 WSOP, then head over to the Bodog Poker room and qualify online for the 2008 WSOP. There are at least four WSOP seats up for grabs every week in March and April with that number jumping to five per week in May and June. Online poker players can buy into the Semifinal directly for $270 or qualify into that tournament through a series of smaller satellites starting for as little as $1.50.
