And then there were four. Lyle Berman, cofounder of the WPT, had been among the chip leaders in the WSOP HORSE Championship for pretty much almost all of the five day event. But after getting short-stacked he ended up busting out in fifth place after pushing all-in on a hand with Michael DeMichele and the chip leader Scotty Nguyen.
After Berman fully committed the last of his chips DeMichele went on to bet fourth, fifth and sixth streets with Nguyen calling all the way. DeMichele ended up taking down the monster pot and eliminating Berman from this, the most prestigous of WSOP events.
Lyle Berman will receive $444,000 for his performance.
Just before Berman went out it was The Bear, Barry Greenstein's turn to exit when his two pair, aces and fours, failed to hold up against Nguyen's trip sevens. Greenstein cashed for $355,200, the lion share of which will likely be donated to Children Incorporated as is his usual practice with his poker tournament winnings.
Before Greenstein's elimination we saw Huck Seed taken out in seventh place in a hand of Stud against DeMichele. Seed earned $284,160.
Currently the four remaing players are Scotty Nguyen with 6,100,000, Michale DeMichele with 4,800,000, Matt Glantz with 2,600,000 and Eric Lindgren with 2,100,000.
The four remaining places payout as follows: fourth – $568,320, third – $781,440, second – $1,243,200 and first place will pay $1,989,120.
It's still anyone's bracelet here at the WSOP HORSE Championship. Stay tuned to the beat for more HORSE and WSOP news.
