Some Guys Get In a Fight In The Poker Room at Foxwoods Casino

Who would want to fight in the idyllic setting that is Foxwoods Casino? (Image Courtesy of MoheganSunCasinos.com)
Man, if you thought the week after Christmas held a dearth of interesting poker news, you would be astounded by how little there is on offer this week. So, here we have for you a story of dubious relevance and scant details.
Some guy from New York named Bryant Down beat up some other unnamed guy from an unnamed place while in the Poker Room at Foxwoods Casino. The recipient of the beat down was sent to the hospital and treated for an injured right elbow and bruises to his face. Downs was charged with second-degree assault and breach of peace. His bond was set at $5,000 and was scheduled to appear today in New London Superior Court.
That's it, that's all we've got. No salacious details about why they were fighting. No idea if they were actually playing poker, just that they were in the poker room. However, based on the litany of bad calls we've seen go down in poker rooms like this the world over, the guy probably hit his two-outer on the river to take Down's money and got what he deserved.
Not that we're in a bitter violence-condoning mood right now or anything, but how could he make that call? Seriously, two outs and one of them hit. Damn it.

i was there the night of the fight it was aorudn 1am last night and i only wish i was making all of it up, but as i lifteed up my hole cards i saw two queens (not a lie) and began to think of what to raise when i heard a loud boom almost as though someone fell over in there seat when i turned aroudn 2 tbales behind me a black man was lifting a smaler asian man up and basically body slammed him to the floor. then the man then stood over him and shouted "THANK YOU" THANK YOU". then proceded to jog away. now only if you were there can you belive the unbeliveable poor response to the incident. not a single pit boss or security officer stopped the fight or the man, im sure they stopped him after he ran up stairs but it was as htough the workers were more interested in the fight than stopping it. you can imagine the chaos this casued all the way down the tables not to mention my tabel where i was still holding my pocket QQs which yeilded me nothing.EMTs eventually came and treted the man who was cariied away and they broke up the table where the fight occured and one of the peopel happened to sit at my tbale. being interested we were all asking about what we had jsut witnessed and he said the asian man was upset about a call the black man made in a pot aroudn 400 dolalrs. the asian man pushed all in with somethign along the lines of KJ and the black man called with AK and won the hand. the asian man proceeded to run his mouth a little to much until the black man said if you dont shut the fuck up im going to knock you the fuck out and the asian man then said "fuck you" at whcih time the black man got up punched him in the head then picked him up and tossed him to the floor and stood over him and said "thank you thank you" then jogged away. you can imagine how angry you get at loseing a hand but this man didnt even lose a hand he won it and still beat this guy up. i couldnt belive that it happened but i also couldnt belive the lack of security, it was unbelivable how they handled it, it mad me very uneasy and i left shortly after. so to answer your questions, they were playing 1/2 no limit, the man who "won" the fight was the guy who actually wont the hand as well, and if you were there you probably wouldnt have been wanting to play cards casue it took about half an hour to get things backinto swing it was liek thats the only thing people coudl think about, it was liek a high school fight everybody ran over there nobody did a damn thing and the teachers showed up way to late. foxwoods shoudl eb embaresed.
i was there later in the morning and a guy at my table was there when it happened. he said that they were playing 1/2 no-limit and the man sent to the hospital was the victim of a bad beat (no pun intended). another man at my table said his father was playing right next to the table where the fight broke out and that it started when something was either thrown or said. chips were flying everywhere and two tables had to be shut down for awhile.
