Synagogaments (n) – poker tournaments held in a synagogue.
Upon seeing that the Baptist church across town was using "Halo 3" tournaments to attract a younger demographic to their church services, Rabbi Harry Manhoff of Temple Beth Shalom was struck by a similar idea, to hold poker tournaments at the synagogue with the hopes of attaining the same goal.
The tournaments have been held for the past four years as a way to raise money but now the Rabbi wants to open them up to the public to try and connect better with the surrounding community. The rules are exactly the same as a regular poker tournament, except completely different. Instead of a cash prize at the end, prizes are awarded according to the number of chips won and a players chips are renewed after each round. LOL synagogaments.
