In one of the most impressive displays of short-stack poker that we've seen at the 2008 WSOP so far, Team Bodog poker player Aaron Kanter worked his way up from a huge chip disadvantage at the final table of Event No. 36 – $1,500 No Limit Holdem – to an impressive third place finish.

When final table play began, Kanter had only 10% of the chips of then leader Jesper Hougaard and just over half of the number of his next closest competition, John Shipley. Courtesy of Cody Slaubaugh, Kanter doubled-up on the very first hand of play and never looked back, pushing his final table opponents to call his aggressive moves time after time and watching as the players fell around him until there were only three players left standing.

Kanter eventually fell victim to the same turn of luck that had befriended him all day long when Hougaard's two-outer hit on the river to send him home in third place with $258,862. Slaughbaugh would end up finishing second with Hougaard taking down first place and the bracelet.

We know for a fact that Kanter will be playing the Main Event here, mainly because he qualified for a seat through Bodog Poker, funny how that works. So, if you want to join Kanter and the rest of Team Bodog in Vegas and play for your chance to win millions while living the Bodog lifestyle, then be sure to check out all of the WSOP online satellites and get started on your way for as little as $1.50. Saturday is the last chance to qualify and there are only a few opportunities left between now and then.

Stay tuned for more live updates from the 2008 WSOP courtesy of the Beat.
