The Beat has arrived in Vegas and is "comfortably" "settled" at the Rio for another summer stint of bringing you the best and worst of the World Series of Poker. We really wish that we could believe the guy that sat next to us on the plane when he said that he was definitely, beyond a doubt going to win the 2008 WSOP Main Event this year. That would really save us a lot of time and we would get a six-week scoop on everyone else and could pack up and go home. But, alas, wethinks that may be a little premature. Unless he wins, in which case, we called it. Right here, make a note.

The festivities are kicking off already and we got ourselves on the list for the Bluff Magazine WSOP launch party at Tao Nighhtclub this evening. So, we'll let you know how that goes. We have a swanky dinner planned for tomorrow night at the best sushi place in town (tune in to find out where) and a whole ton of other stuff going on over the next six weeks that we'll be sure to keep you posted on.

Right now, and since the WSOP doesn't technically start for another 24 hours so we're not on the clock yet, the insides of our eyelids would like to see us and then there's unpacking to do. So, stay tuned to the Beat for live updates from the 2008 World Series of Poker and don't forget that there are still plenty of WSOP Main Event online poker satellites at Bodog Poker to win a $12,000 2008 WSOP VIP prize package.
