Poker pro and medical doctor Roy Winston expertly diagnosed the final table of the 2007 WPT Borgata Poker Open and prescribed himself the winning formula (sorry, that was bad even for us). All doctoral analogies aside, Winston performed like a consummate pro by entering the final table as the chip leader and protecting his lead. For this feat he takes home the $1,575,280 first-place money, a silver watch, and entry into the $25,000 buy-in WPT World Championship in April, 2008.
Heung Yoon, in his first major poker tournament, put up a valiant effort and fought Winston heads-up for 84 hands. He finished in second place, earning $832,725. Poker pro Mike Matusow ended up being the final table's first victim, but this bankroll infusion will guarantee that he is seen more often on the tour circuit.
Here are the full final table results and payouts:
1. Roy Winston – $1,575,280
2. Heung Yoon – $832,725
3. Haralabos Voulgaris – $434,560
4. Mark Weitzman – $380,240
5. Eugene Todd – $325,920
6. Mike Matusow – $271,600
