The Popularity Contest That Is the 2007 World Series of Poker

The nightlife and parties surrounding the 2007 World Series of Poker Main Event are as much of a draw to some as the poker tournament. (Bodog Beat Image)
The World Series of Poker might be just a poker tournament and a chance at fame and fortune for some, but for others it can be a popularity contest to see how many and to which parties you can wrangle an invite. There are a lot of poker players and poker companies throwing parties, events and other assorted get-togethers.
As some of the most popular people in the media room, we get so many invites that we don't even know what to do with ourselves half the time. Seriously, we're not kidding. Here's a rundown of the shin-digs that we know about so far, most of them labeled using the terms we've heard for them:
World Series of Barbecue Hosted by Howard and Suzie Lederer - This was held just last night and in our dedication to bring you all the news from the WSOP we missed it. We do know that it featured the 2007 WSOP Karaoke Championship and the winner got a Tag Heuer watch. Since we don't sing and tell, we'll let you google the "Phil Gordon" incident from last year's party.
World Series 2007 Poker Party: Hosted by Chip and Karina Jett - This one is happening at Minxx Gentlemen's Club & Lounge and features a finishing time of "????". Ooooohhh, question marks; this could be crazy. People may not make it home from this one.
The Bluff Party - It's just a simple as that. Bluff Media is throwing a party at Sapphire. All sarcasm aside, people might actually not make it home from this one. If we clear it with our wives have to run there, we will be at this one.
Johnny Chan's Pool Party - We were unsure about this one because sitting in the media room and eating at the Poker Kitchen for a month does not an enviable body make. Then we found out it was at 8pm and heaved a sigh of relief. I guess we'll find out what his new energy drink, "All In", tastes like mixed with alcohol. We could be alternating between wired and passed out for days.
Pants Party - Ok, this one's not real but if you get the movie reference then you are the grand prize winner.
If the party reports are kosher enough for public consumption, we'll let you know how they turn out. If the Beat goes silent for a couple of days, just assume we had a good time. Then just hang on and we'll be back soon….maybe.
Of course, the one party that only a very select few will get to enjoy (including us, thank you very much) will be onboard the Bodog Bus. This mobile example of the Bodog lifestyle is only open to Team Bodog members and will feature drinks, snacks, video games, flatscreen TVs, and most importantly, the Bodog Girls. We will definitely be bringing you reports from what we're sure will be many trips on the bus. You know, just because we can.
