The controversy continues to swirl as Day 1D of the 2009 WSOP Main Event progresses and more comes out about which players were allowed to register and which were flat out turned away. Hint: If you are well-known or know someone who is well-known you got to register late.
Rumors were floating about a hastily arranged Day 1E, but that idea has been squashed by the big-wigs. Unfortunately, based on the number of people who are upset about being shut out, it looks like this year's field could have been larger than last year's. That would have been quite a coup for Harrah's as it could have shown the WSOP, and possibly poker as a whole, to be recession-proof.
The best way to play in today's field was to actually register on time, something Team Bodog members Robert "xVOSSx" Voss and Ben "pokerfanx789″ Nathanson seemed to be able to manage. They are out in the field and look to be doing quite well. We'll keep you posted on their status as things progress.
Bodog Poker pro David Williams is also out in the field, although he ended up being relegated to the overflow area up by Buzios restaurant where he seems to be freezing cold. Doesn't seem to be affecting his play though as his most recent Twitter (@dwbodogpro) indicates:
Up to 43k after two levels. Playing well. Now if only it would warm up around here. Everyone is freeeezing.
