In very sad news for us, Tom "DonkeyBomber" Schneider did not win the WSOP Circuit championship event last night in Tunica. It's mainly disappointing because we really like saying "DonkeyBomber" in our heads and making braying noises drowned out by explosions. Plus, it would've given us something marginally interesting to write about.
So, in other poker news that no one gives a crap about:
Bart Tichelman did win the WSOP Circuit event, collecting $482,210, an entry into the 2008 WSOP Main Event and a fancy championship ring. This is the first major poker tournament win for the player we know nothing about.
Up in Atlantic City, Regette Bechara came out on top of 382 other women to capture the first-ever WPT Ladies League title. For the win she gets $33,000 and a $1,500 seat into the season-ending $1,500 WPT Ladies championship. Other "ladies" in the event included Olga Varkonyi, wife of 2002 WSOP Main Event champ Robert Varkonyi, and Jane Gold, mother of 2006 WSOP Main Event champion Jamie Gold.
In breaking news that comes as a severe shock to us, Erick Lindgren is already out of the WPT World Poker Open, capping a spectacular freefall from the chip lead to a 24th place finish. Way to go. Maybe we are the curse on these events…?
