Yesterday saw the WSOP field cut from 1,308 to 486. The money bubble burst at 666 after which two Team Bodog players were eliminated: Ryan Monastyrski in 606th place cashing for $21,230 and Adam Grovenstein in 555th place for $23,160.
From the original WSOP field of 6,844 there are four surviving Bodog players. Bodog poker pro Evelyn Ng is coming into Day 4 with a beautiful stack of 414,500 chips. Although Evy likes to play small ball poker, we did see her take down a few huge pots yesterday. With the average stack looking to be around 300,000 she is in great position heading into Day 4.

Magnus Petersson, the man who beat Elky in heads-up play last year to take down the EPT Copenhagen, is also coming into the Day 4 of the WSOP with a healthy stack of 352,000. We say him take down a monster of a pot yesterday when he was all-in pre-flop with pocket tens against A-K. The flop gave him a set and while the river gave his an opponent a straight it didn’t matter as the turn had given him a full house.

Will Soffin of Boca, FL is coming into Day 4 with 294,500. Soffin, as we mentioned in a previous post, has the unusual style of play where he almost never plays out of position so he doesn’t even sit at the table unless he’s in late position. He tends to average being at his table only 35 minutes out of every hour.

Bodog poker pro Jean-Robert Bellande is having a good run in the back end of this year’s WSOP with a second place finish in the $1,500 Limit Holdem prelim event and now he’s past the bubble in the Main Event. Bellande is coming into Day 4 with 124,500 in chips.
There are currently only two players with over 1,000,000 chips: Jeremy Joseph with 1,458,000 and Jeremiah Smith with 1,079,500.
Other players of note that have survived to see Day 4 of the WSOP include: Dag Martin Mikkelsen with 931,000, Brandon Cantu with 710,000, Phil Hellmuth with 475,000, Mark Vos with 468,000, Mike Matusow with 438,500, Allen Cunningham with 386,500, Gus Hansen with 355,000, Jeff Madsen with 349,000, Hevad Khan with 338,500, Hasan Habib with 326,000, Chip Jett with 318,500, Johnny Chan with 252,000, Tiffany Michelle with 249,000, and Bertrand “Elky” Grospellier with 181,500.
Play today starts an hour later than usual at 1 p.m. local time. The WSOP tournament floor is empty right now except for bustling dealers organzing chips and preparing for another long day. Stay tuned to the Beat for more live WSOP updates from the Rio in Las Vegas.
