Vanessa Selbst took a commanding chip lead last night after a ballsy play that eliminated Tony Phillips and created the final table of nine.
Selbst has already cashed once at this year’s WSOP with a 34th place finish and won a meager $14,138 from Event 13 No Limit Holdem. Perhaps that was in the back of her mind when she made a somewhat risky call that ended up with her making two pair on the river and cracking Philips’ aces.
PokerNews reported here as stating after the hand, "I'm here for the bracelet and I didn't want him to have position on me tomorrow with a ton of chips."
Phillips’ elimination gave Selbst a 2-1 chip lead over second place and saw the creation of what will be the WSOP Event 19 $1,500 Pot Limit Omaha’s final table.
