Just a quick update from the 2008 WSOP and Event No. 5 – $5,000 Mixed Holdem – where Team Bodog members are steadily climbing the leaderboard as we get closer to calling it a day here, even though their table draws are getting tougher and tougher.
Leading the way up the chip counts is Bodog poker pro David Williams, who is currently sitting at about 40,000 in chips but also directly to the left of Nenad Medic. You know? The guy who just won the first bracelet of the 2008 WSOP against a ridiculously tough field? Yeah, that guy.
Next in line is Team Bodog poker player Maria Ho and her chip stack of about 30,000. She is seated right next to Bodog regular online poker player Jon "PearlJammer" Turner, but is remaining focused, even though he is one of the early chip leaders here.
Just behind her is Bodog poker pro Justin Bonomo and his ridiculously tough table draw. Somehow, he managed to find himself at a table with none other than the poker brat Phil Hellmuth, Dave "devilfish" Ulliott and Hoyt Corkins, the Alabama cowboy.
Then last, but not least, is Quinghai Pan, who is sitting at a table with UK poker pro Roy Winston.
Each Team Bodog player is holding their own and we expect to see all of them returning tomorrow in good position. So, stay tuned to the Beat for more live updates from the 2008 World Series of Poker.
UPDATE: There are now 162 players remaining out of the original starting field of 332. That is all. Now back to our regularly scheduled programming.
